BIBLICAL CALENDARING OF THE FEASTS:
By: FEASTS
OF THE LORD.NET
The Biblical Hebrew year is a lunar (moon)
calendar 354 days long (in contrast to a solar year of 365.25 days per year) and comprised of 12 months with 29.530573496
astronomical days per month; except on leap years where an extra month is added in to adjust to solar reckoning. To
adjust a lunar calendar to solar reckoning, a leap month is added on the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th,
14th, 17th and 19th year based upon a 19 year cycle. Consequently the Hebrew biblical calendar for
feasts becomes a lunar-solar calendar. Because the new moon is a sabbath and 1st day of the month, it determines
when the feasts will be held. Consequently, the feasts always fall on the same day of
the week every year.
In contrast to Jewish calendars of today: Instead of adding a leap month (Adar II), today’s Jewish calendars superimpose a 354 day lunar calendar onto
the Gregorian calendar of 365.2422 days per year (30.43685
astronomical days, per month, average).
Consequently the feasts then fall on a
different day each year.
This is not to be confused with the biblical prophetic
calendar of years of 360 days long. See Rev. 11:2-3, 12:6, 13:5 and Dan. 12:7-12 which indicate 42
months as equivalent to 3.5 years or 1260 days; 360 days per year.
The 1st day of each Biblical
Month begins on a New Moon
(i.e. a Lunar Calendar) is a Sabbath
and called “Rosh Hodesh”.
