Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord:
Ezek. 33: 3-6
If when he sees the sword come upon the land,
he blows the trumpet, and warns the people; Then whosoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning;
if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the
trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that takes
warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the
trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity;
but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
"CRY aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell
My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins.” Isa. 58:1
FEAST OF TRUMPETS
In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath,
a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. Lev.23: 24-25.
In the seventh month, on the first of the month, there shall be a sabbath
for you, a remembrance with shofar blasts, a holy convocation. Ex. 20: 8
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my
holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways,
nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will
cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth ... Isa. 58: 13-14
The Feast of Trumpets marked the beginning
of the new secular calendar year (approx. Sept. or Oct.), and began on a new moon when two witnesses
said so, and the head of the Sanhedrin agreed thus each year “…nobody knew the exact day or hour”.
Matt.24: 36.
No one can know the exact day or hour, as one cannot know the exact day or hour of the new moon
signaling the beginning of the festival, but one can know the season!
“for we know in
part and prophesy in part.” 1 Corinthians 13: 9
“for now we see in
a mirror dimly.” 1 Corinthians 13: 12
Early rabbis and early church fathers agreed that there would be 6000 years
or six days of creation, and then the seventh day of millennium peace would come. According to Scripture there were approximately
4000 years from Adam to Yeshua. Add 2000 years and we should be coming to the time of the millennium!
We are very near the seventh day of millennial peace, very near the rapture of the church, which will take place near
the Feast of Trumpets, when the last trump sounds (see Zec. 9:14).
The name "Rosh Hashanah" meaning “New Year” is not used
in the Bible to discuss this holiday. The Bible refers to the holiday as the “Day of Remembrance”, or the “Day
of the Sounding of the Shofar” aka “Feast of Trumpets”; Lev.23:24-32.
The blowing of the first trump or shofar, was the horn of the ram Abraham sacrificed instead of Isaac
at Sinai, Exodus 19:19.
The first day in the biblical seventh month called Tishri (Sept. / Oct.) at the Feast of Trumpets
/ Rosh Hashanah is the secular New Year in Jewish culture. Sabbatical and Jubilee years
also begin at this time immediately following the Feast of Atonement (10 days later).
In Hebrew, Rosh Hashanah means, literally, ‘head of the year’ or ‘first
of the year’. Rosh Hashanah is commonly known as the Jewish New Year, the start of a new calendar
year; a time to begin introspection, looking back at the mistakes of the past year and planning the changes to make in the
new year.
In Judaism, the first month of
Nissan 1 (in April or May) is the biblical New Year for the purpose of counting the reign of kings and start of the
lunar months to calendar the feasts.
Trumpets / Rosh Hashanah is called the Day of Remembrance and the Day of Awakening.
Awake you sleepers from your sleep! Raise yourselves you slumberers! Examine
your deeds and unto God in repentance abandon your evil ways.
In Jewish tradition, the 10-day period from Feast of Trumpets / Rosh Hashanah
to the Feast of Atonement / Yom Kippur, the two high holy days of Judaism, is called the “Days of Awe" / Affliction”unto
repentance. Jewish tradition holds that, during this 10-day period, divine judgment is rendered to determine
whether a person will continue to live or die in the coming year.
See Tribulation
for 10 days Rev. 2:10.
It is believed that God reviews the
books of judgment on the Feast of Trumpets on Tishri 1, in Sept./Oct., and metes out final judgment on the Feast of Atonement
/ Yom Kippur on Tishri10. These ten days are believed to be the last chance to repent before God’s
judgment is finalized for the coming year.
For Christians,
in the “Last Days”, it is the last chance to repent before the Judgment of mankind, prior to the Millennial kingdom
separating true believers to reign with Jesus a thousand years.
According to Judaism,
on the Feast of Trumpets / Rosh Hashanah, the Books of Life and Death are opened by God in heaven. They are shut by Him on
the Feast of Atonement / Yom Kippur 10 days later. It is also believed that the gates of heaven are opened on the Feast of
Trumpets / Rosh Hashanah and closed on the Feast of Atonement / Yom Kippur.
The shofar is a ram's horn which is blown somewhat like a trumpet. The shofar's
sound is a call to repentance during the Days of Awe. The "first day of the seventh month,
Tishri, will be a day of rest, reminder, and blowing of the shofar - a holy convocation Lev. 23:24-32.
The next 10 days between Trumpets / Rosh Hashanah and Atonement / Yom Kippur are called the Days of Awe /
Days of Repentance.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who stands for the children
of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:
and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Dan.
12:1.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against Me,
him will I blot out of My book Ex. 32:33.
He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but
I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels Rev. 3:5. And I saw the dead,
small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and
the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Rev.
20:12.
During this period, Jews seek forgiveness for their sins so that they may be written in
the Book of Life for the coming year. A popular greeting is “May you be inscribed in the book of
life for a good year”. Each person is accountable for sins committed first against fellow
man and submits a guilt offering in Temple, and then for sins against God a sin offering.
If therefore you are
presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering
there before the altar and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother and then come and present your offering."
Matthew 5:23-24
According to Jewish
tradition the Book of Life for the wicked and the Book of Life for the righteous are opened on the Feast of Trumpets.
As the Judge of the Universe reviews mankind’s deeds, He inscribes the name of every individual in one of these
books. Judgment against the wicked is final and irrevocable; they will have life cut short in the coming
year. For those recorded in the book of the righteous, the Lord will be merciful. For
the remainder, those not written in either of these books, the sealing of their fate is deferred and hangs in the balance
until the Feast of Atonement / Yom Kippur.
If they sincerely
repent during the Days of Awe, tradition holds that God will grant them life. Reflecting this tradition,
the common greeting during the Days of Awe is “May you be inscribed in the Book of Life”.
King David penned the words, “Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not
be written with the righteous” Ps. 69:28.
For Christian believers:
Ezekiel 33: 3- 9 speaks of
a sword coming upon the land and the blowing of the trumpet to warn the people to repent of their sins:
Ezek. 33: 3-6
If when he (the watchman) sees the sword come upon the land, he blows the trumpet,
and warns the people; Then whosoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him
away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning;
his blood shall be upon himself. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
True believers worthy of entering the Millennial Kingdom (Jubilee) will be tested.
This period will be one of encouraged repentance thru “tribulation”, starting at the Feast of Trumpets and culminating
at the Feast of Atonement, aka Judgment.
The biblical sequential order
in the latter days for Christian believers will be the following: A period of encouraged repentance
starting at the Feast of Trumpets, and culminating at the Feast of Atonement, followed by Jubilee (the Millennial kingdom).
“Now learn a parable of the fig tree (Israel); When his branch is yet tender, and puts
forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even
at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”
Mark. 13: 32-34 (Fig Tree/Generation/Last Days)
“For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written
may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for
there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the
edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until
the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
And there shall be signs (6th
seal) in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea
and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the
earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
And then
shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when
these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.’
And He spoke to them a parable; ‘Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot
forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when
ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you:
This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.” Luke 21: 22-32: (Fig Tree/Generation/Last Days)
“And as Jesus sat upon
the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be
the sign of Thy coming, and of the end of the world? There shall be false Messiah’s,
wars, famine & pestilence (Rev. seals 1-4)… When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken
of by Daniel the prophet (Dan. 9:24-27), stand in
the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:) … For then shall be “Great Tribulation”, such as was not since the beginning
of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. … For as the lightning cometh
out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever
the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars
shall fall from heaven (6th seal), and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all
the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with
power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet
(Ezk. 9:14-16), and they shall
gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matt. 24: 3, 15, 21, 27- 31 (Last Days)
“But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand
when he appears? for He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: … Then they that feared the LORD
spoke often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him
for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His name.” Mal.
3:2,16
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other
left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch
therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Math.
13:40-42 (Rapture)
TRUMPET
VERSES:
The last
trumpet (Zec. 9:14-16), a horn of the ram
spoken of in 1Corinthians 15:52, will be blown by God
(just as when God gave the law to Moses – Ex. 19:16) at the Rapture, and at the resurrection
of the dead to meet the Messiah and reign with Him a thousand years:
===========================
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice,
as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou see, write in a book,
and send it unto the seven churches …” Rev. 1:10-11
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed” 1Corinthians 15:52
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the Trumpet of God:
and the dead in Christ will rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we forever be with the Lord. I Thes. 4:16-17
“And the LORD
shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with
sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and s the corners
of the altar.
And
the LORD their God shall save them in that day. (Zec.
9:14-16)
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and
a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled….
And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder,
Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice. Ex. 19:16, 19.
“And
I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the Book
of Life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” Rev.20:12 (see also Dan.12:1
& 7:10; Luke
10:20; Rev. 3:5-6 & 21:27) and enter into the presence of God to
“tabernacle
/ dwell” with Him forever. See all of Revelation chapters 21 and 22.

1st Theme of the FEAST Of TRUMPETS -
REPENTANCE:
Refer. Lev. 23:24-32 and Ezek. 33:3-9
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy loving-kindness: according unto the
multitude of Thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and
cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Thy sight: that Thou might be justified when Thou speak,
and be clear when Thou judge. Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, Thou desire truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to
hear joy and gladness; that the bones which Thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide Thy face from my sins, and
blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy
of Thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners
shall be converted unto Thee. Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, Thou God of my salvation: and my
tongue shall sing aloud of Thy righteousness. O Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth
Thy praise. For You desires not sacrifice; else would I give it: You delight not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.
Do good in Thy good pleasure unto Zion: build Thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt Thou be pleased
with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon Thine
altar.” Psalm 51
“Turn you at
My reproof: behold, I will pour out My spirit unto you, I will make known My words unto you..”
Prov. 1: 23
“Sow to yourselves
in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till He come and rain righteousness
upon you.” Hosea 10: 12
“Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Matt. 3: 2
“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father
will also forgive you.”
Matt. 6:14
“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Not every one that says unto Me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that
doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord,
have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful
works?’ Then will I profess unto them, ‘I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that
work iniquity.’ “ Matt. 7: 20-23
“Now I rejoice, not that ye were
made sorry, but that ye are sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly
manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation
not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death.” 2 Cor. 7: 9-10
“Draw nigh to God, and He will draw
nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted,
and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves
in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.” James 4: 8-10
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1: 9
2nd Theme of the FEAST Of TRUMPETS - TRIBULATION:
Tribulation period: Revelation chapters
6 & 7
Jews read Psalm 27
and Ezekiel 33 on Trumpets / Rosh Hashanah.
"For in the day of trouble (the “Great Tribulation”, Jacob's trouble), He will
conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent, He will hide me." Psalm
27: 5
Behold, I have refined thee, but not
with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. Isa.
48:10
Christians view Ezek. 38 & 39
Gog / Magog battle as either at the Tribulation period, or after the Millennial Kingdom, or both depending upon interpretation.
Personally I believe it to be both: Rev. 16:16
speaks of Armageddon during the tribulation period, and Rev. 20:8 speaks of Gog and Magog being released
after the Millennial Kingdom.
Ezekiel 33:
3- 9 speaks of a sword coming upon the land and the blowing of the trumpet to warn the people to
repent of their sins.
"Come, my people, enter into your rooms
and close the doors behind you; hide for a little while until the indignation runs its course." Isaiah 26: 20
"Open the gates that the righteous may enter".
Isaiah 26: 2
"… perhaps
you will be hidden in the day of the Lords anger." Zephaniah
2:3b
"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last shofar (trump),
for the shofar will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable and we shall be changed" 1 Corinthians 15:52
And
the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord
GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south. Zec. 9:14
Mth. 24:30 then shall the Son of man come … with a great sound
of a trumpet ….Mth. 24:31 & gather the elect (rapture).
"… Who delivers us from the wrath to come…" 1 Thessalonians 1:10 (During the 7th seal; Rev. 8 thru 16)
"… for God has not destined us for wrath…" 1 Thessalonians 5:9 (During the 7th seal)
And
unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things said the First and the Last, which was dead, and is alive;
I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews,
and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold,
the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have “tribulation”
10 days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. He that
hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.
Rev. 2: 8-11
The 7 year tribulational period is the later
7 years (7th Sabbatical year) of the 10 days /
years “Days of Awe” call for repentance, prior to the Feast
of Atonement / Judgment, culminating immediately into the year of Jubilee / Millennial Kingdom.
Note: Visualize the scroll containing the Wrath
(Ebrah) of God with 7 seals:
It is not until
ALL 7 seals are broken until the scroll is opened, and the wrath of God is displayed
The first 6 seals to be broken, are preconditions to be met BEFORE the 7th seal can be broken and the scroll containing
God’s wrath is opened! See "End Of The Age" file for further details.
Note the contrast between “tribulation”
prior to God’s “wrath”: "…I also will keep you from the hour of testing
/ tribulation (Peirasmos)…" Revelation 3:10 occurring prior to God’s “WRATH”.
Pre Wrath Rapture:
After
the 6th seal per Jesus in Mth. 24:29 (sun & moon turns dark, stars fall) ….
following the “Great Tribulation” (initiated at the “abomination
of desolation” aka 5th seal), …. but before the “Day
of the Lord” (per Joel 2:31 & Acts 2:20) starting at the 7th seal (Rev. 8 thru 16) ….
THEN according to Jesus shall you see the “Son of man come ... and gather the elect with a “trumpet
of God” (Mth. 24:30-31) (See “End of the
Age” file for further details.)
"For the Lord himself
will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the shofar (trumpet of God;
Zec. 9:14-16); and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and thus we shall always be with the Lord.” 1Thessalonians 4:16-18
